Kingston, Jamaica –Multidimensional artist ZAC JONE$ announces his new single “The Weed Song,” featuring International Reggae Star Jesse Royal. Due out October 22nd on Easy Star Records, “The Weed Song” is the third single from ZAC’s upcoming EP Man A Yard. The new anthem comes with a music video that captures the ‘feel good’ high from the controversial plant expressed in the single.
With production from rising Producer/Artist and frequent collaborator Iotosh (“Rich Forever” by Jesse Royal, “West Indies” by Koffee, etc) the track features a mesmerizing blend of the flute and thumping reggae drum beats with notable dub and hip hop elements. The lyrics speak very simply to the feeling weed gives and in the name of true synergy, the collaboration with Jesse Royal was an obvious one. JONE$ and Royal bring to the track a natural chemistry, perfectly matching each other’s flows and cadences.
Dedicated to the feel good nature of herb, ZAC JONE$ wrote The Weed Song during an overwhelming time in his life. JONE$ explains, “Every night after work I’d sit outside in my garden and smoke and I’d feel good in that moment; like that was my escape. One of those nights I just wanted to put that feeling into song. I pulled up the beat from Io (Iotosh) and it all came together right there. I was saving it for the right feature, so when Jesse heard it a few months later and started writing his verse on the spot, I knew that was it. It was all organic so that was dope.”
ZAC classifies his latest sound as Reggae with heavy Rap influences. He is part of the current evolution of Jamaican music and describes his style as a multi-dimensional expression of his past, present and future, blending Reggae, Rap, R&B, Dancehall, and World Music into his signature sound. The new single is due out on Easy Star Records, one of the premier reggae labels in the world, which has embraced many of Jamaica’s new Reggae stars including Protoje, Jesse Royal, Fyah Roiall, Mortimer, Lila Ike, and Sevana; making this release from ZAC JONE$ an ideal fit for the label to be involved in.
